McKinney Law Group
Mr. McKinney has been practicing intellectual property law for over ten years, primarily in Silicon Valley. He has been in private practice at both Morrison & Foerster LLP, Palo Alto, and Townsend Townsend & Crew, Palo Alto, and has served as Chief Patent Counsel for a public company. Mr. McKinney received his law degree from Stanford Law School, where he was a Brown and Bain High Technology fellow. Prior to entering law school, he worked as a scientist for Zeneca Pharmaceuticals (now AstraZeneca). Mr. McKinney holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Ohio State University, where he was a University Fellow and a Lubrizol Fellow, and he performed postdoctoral work at Stanford University as a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow. Mr. McKinney earned a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude with departmental honors in English Literature at Hanover College in Indiana.
A frequent writer and lecturer, Mr. McKinney has published articles in the National Law Journal, various newspapers and the Journal of the American Chemical Society. He has given presentations related to the UCSB Technology Management Program and at national intellectual property conferences. Mr. McKinney is a listed inventor on seven issued U.S. patents.
