Bruce Meares is Vice President & General Manager of Conmed Linvatec Endoscopy, a division of New York based Conmed Corporation. Conmed is a medical technology company with an emphasis on surgical devices, monitoring equipment and devices for minimally invasive procedures in the Hospital Operating Room. A 1981 graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Mr. Meares launched his career in the Computer Industry at a Santa Barbara based disk drive component manufacturer (Applied Magnetics Corporation). During the proceeding 14 years, he held positions in Operations Management, Product development, and Senior Management. In 1995 Mr. Meares left the Computer industry to join a start-up surgical camera manufacturer in the Medical Device industry (Envision Medical Corporation) as Director of Operations. In 1996, Envision was acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb, and in 1998 the division was sold to Conmed. In 1998, Mr. Meares was named Vice President and General Manager of the Santa Barbara based Endoscopy division. Over the following 8 years Mr. Meares directed the division through a period of steady growth where annual sales grew by 95% and Market share grew from 8% to 14% during the period. Also during this time, the Endoscopy division released several patented, innovative "industry- first" products that have positioned the company with the top performing video system in the market . He serves as a member of the Corporate New business development team in evaluating new technology, products, and business plans of potential corporate partners for Conmed. Mr. Meares has a significant history in the field of surgical video endoscopy and is a lecturer for UCSB and MIT enterprise forum..
