Mandatory Sign-Up Meeting

Engineering Science Building (ESB) Room 1001, 5:30-7:30 pm
Have an idea or need a team? Join in an entrepreneurial experience and sign-up! Hear information on patents, idea protection and how to present an idea in a one page summary and business plan format.

February 5
Tuesday

Marketing Mentor Night

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
All student teams bring a business idea draft summary and talk with marketing experts. Obtain feedback from professionals.

February 12
Tuesday

Finance Mentor Night

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
All student teams bring a business idea draft summary and talk with financiers and investors. Obtain feedback from professionals.

February 19

Technology Mentor Night

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
All student teams bring a business idea draft summary and talk with entrepreneurs from a spectrum of technology companies. Obtain feedback from professionals.

One Minute Message Workshop

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
Student teams will learn how to craft a succinct message on what their idea, team, and product will do for investors and for customers.

Two - Four Page Executive Summary & Business Plan Tutorial

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
The 2-4 page executive summary determines who will proceed to the semifinals. Participants will work with individual advisors to express your business idea.

NEW VENTURE BUSINESS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY DUE
to Katheryn Greenaway, greenaway@engineering.ucsb.edu by 12:00 pm.

A 2-4 page executive summary of your business idea (need, solution, size and attractiveness market, business model, team, etc.), along with a coversheet that gives the title of business plan, team member names, contact information (address, phone, email), Perm number, major and year.

April 1

Long Term Mentor Night

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
Student teams will be matched with community business leaders who will give guidance and feedback up to the Final competition.

April 15
Tuesday

Semifinal Venture Fair

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 8:30 pm
Student teams arrive at 5 pm, a table and easel will be provided for presentation of their idea to judges from the business community. Bring a preliminary copy of your business plan in a red folder and be prepared to give your Elevator Pitch. Winners announced the following day by noon on the website.

April 22

Presentation and Pitching

ESB Room 1001, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
This is a more in-depth review of what students need to have in their presentations for the New Venture Competition.

May 5
Monday

BUSINESS PLANS DUE

Submit 6 copies, less than 20 pages total, no later than 12:00 pm to
Katheryn Greenaway, Bldg. 937, Room 1004.

May 9
Friday

PRACTICE RUNS of Final Presentation

ESB Room 1001, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Each finalist team will schedule a 50-minute appointment to test-drive your 10 minute live presentation for the finals and seek advice.
May 13
Tuesday

NEW VENTURE COMPETITION FINALS

4:00 - 7:00 pm
UCen Corwin Pavilion

Final teams will meet at 3:30 pm for a technical run through and then will be cloistered for the remainder of the competition until their turn to present. A reception will follow the competition; teams be equipped to outfit a table as in the Fair to present ideas to Angel Investors and VCs in attendance.
