The TMP Lecture series is a focal point for the program and outreach activities, featuring a mix of prominent academic researchers, distinguished business professionals, and successful entrepreneurs. All TMP lectures are professionally video-taped and archived at UC-TV. The lecture series operates during the academic year, typically five lectures per quarter. The lectures are open to anyone. Students enrolled in the TMP certificate programs must register for the 111/211 sequence and are required to attend at least four lectures each quarter.

Giovanni Vigna, Ph.D., Co-Founder and CTO, Lastline, Inc. Giovanni Vigna is the Co-Founder of Lastline, Inc. He is also a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California in Santa Barbara. His current research interests include malware analysis, web security, vulnerability assessment, and intrusion detection. He also edited a book on Security and Mobile Agents and authored one on Intrusion Correlation. He has been the Program Chair of the International Symposium on Recent Advances in Intrusion Detection (RAID 2003), of the ISOC Symposium on Network and Distributed Systems Security (NDSS 2009), and of the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy (S&P 2010 and 2011). He is known for organizing and running an inter-university Capture The Flag hacking contest, called iCTF, that every year involves dozens of institutions around the world. Giovanni Vigna received his M.S. with honors and Ph.D. from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in 1994 and 1998, respectively. He is a member of IEEE and ACM. |
Marten Mickos, CEO, Eucalyptus Systems Marten builds global disruptive businesses. As CEO of MySQL AB for seven years, Mickos grew that company from a garage start-up to the second largest open source company in the world. After the acquisition by Sun Microsystems of MySQL AB for $1bn, he served as Senior Vice President of Sun's Database Group. Previously, Mickos held multi-national CEO and senior executive positions in his native Finland. He is a member of the board of Electrosonic. Mickos holds a M.Sc. in technical physics from Helsinki University of Technology. "Neurons and Networks" Jeff is Chairman and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. At age 32, he became one of the youngest public company CEOs in America and opened the NASDAQ stock market on June 15, 2007. Mr. Stibel is also a brain scientist. Mr. Stibel was previously President and CEO of Web.com (NASDAQ: WWWW) and General Manager of United Online (NASDAQ: UNTD). Prior to United Online, Stibel was founder and CEO of Simpli.com, now part of ValueClick (NASDAQ: VCLK). Jeff currently sits on the boards of numerous private and public companies including The Search Agency, EdgeCast Networks, BrainGate and Autobytel (NASDAQ: ABTL), as well as academic boards for Tufts University and Brown University. He is the author of numerous academic and business articles, including the book Wired for Thought (Harvard Business Press: 2009) and is the named inventor on the U.S. patent for search engine interfaces. Mr. Stibel studied business at MIT's Sloan School and brain science at Brown University, where he was the recipient of the Brain and Behavior Fellowship while studying for his PhD. |

Kerri Pollard, President, Commission Junction As president of Commission Junction, Kerri's primary responsibility is to oversee the operations of Commission Junction's U.S. offices located in Santa Barbara, CA; Boston, MA; San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Chicago, IL; and Westlake Village, CA. Ms. Pollard originally joined affiliate marketing solutions provider Be Free in 1999 prior to its acquisition by ValueClick and subsequent merger with Commission Junction in 2003. During her twelve-year tenure with Be Free and Commission Junction, she primarily managed the teams responsible for advertiser and publisher client development and introduced such initiatives as the CJ Performer™, a program that facilitates strategic relationships between top-performing publishers and key advertisers. Prior to Commission Junction, Pollard operated in a sales capacity at consulting firm Keane, Inc., and at i-Cube (now Avenue A/Razorfish). She has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the E.W. Scripps School at Ohio University. |
